Let me hit some highlights for you.....
The theme - Sesame Street of course!
Dinner - Elmo's favorite PIZZA (and a pasta and green salad for the grown ups)
Entertainment - Sesame Street games and coloring sheets - FUN!
Dessert - Elmo and Cookie cupcakes...with a rainbow surprise inside!
Favors - Crayola coloring crayons, markers and colored pencils with a balloon bouquet
The girls LOVED the pizza and pasta salad. They were feeling a little overwhelmed by all of the people in the house but they still managed to eat a slice! I bought Sesame Street cups with lids and straws by Solo and it was the best idea ever - NO SPILLS! Awesome!
After they were done with dinner they hopped out of their high chairs and scampered off to play some games. They played Oscar's Trash Can Toss, Feed Cookie and Ernie's Rubber Duckie game. I am pretty sure that Ernie's game was the biggest hit! They played it almost the whole time!
After games we moved on to everyone's favorite, well my favorite anyway, CAKE! I absolutely love watching a baby eat cake on their first birthday but watching any baby eat cake just melts my heart! We sang Happy Birthday to the twins individually this year. It was perfect! They have been singing the Happy Birthday song for weeks now (thank you Elmo!) and it was great to see the look on their faces when we were singing to them! I think they were a little bewildered but excited at the same time. They each got to blow out a candle and eat their own cupcake. It was priceless!!!!
Next came gift opening. This was no easy task! I think I worked off about 1000 calories in the process. I stood behind the girls and leaned over the top of them. I was assisting them with ribbon, tissue paper, wrapping paper and bags. It felt like it was about 100* in the house, I was drenched in sweat!(gross I know but I had to be honest!) Then I started to get a cramp in my back from leaning over them! It was all worth it however when we got to see the girls reaction to their gifts! They weregiven so many wonderful things! Abby slippers, puzzles, clothes (so many adorable clothes!), dolly strollers, purses, baby cradles, baby high chairs, and Sesame Street toys of course! They were so excited! Their reaction was awesome and so worth the work (plus all the exertion earned me an extra cupcake!).
After all of the gifts were opened the kids all played until it was time to go home. It was a great birthday party and a great time was had by all! I can't believe they are almost 2....almost....it's not official until Wednesday!

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, they're 2 already?? I remember turning around in church at the Christmas eve service and seeing you & Bryan holding teeny tiny babies! (Dressed in matching sock monkey outfits of course!) Wasn't that just yesterday? They are just adorable and the party looked fantastic.
